La actriz mexicana Eiza González aprovechó su cuenta de Instagram para revelar parte de la entevista que le realizó la revista Interview Magazine, donde declaró lo incomodo que fue su primer casting en territorio norteamericano.

“Fue la primera audición que tuve en los Estados Unidos, y es un formato diferente al de México. Aquí lees con un director de casting mientras graban. Y algunos de ellos simplemente leen en blanco”.

“Me dieron cuatro escenas, y pensé que estaba destinada a elegir uno, porque así es en México. Me estaba aprendiendo como normalmente lo hacía (…) pero el director de casting detuvo todo y dijo: ‘probablemente vayas a trabajar solo porque eres bonita’. Yo pensaba: ‘¿qué significa eso?’”.

It was the first audition I got in the U.S., and it's a different format than Mexico. In Mexico, it's always a chemistry read; you always read with another actor and it's usually on a set. Here, you read with a casting director while they're taping and some of them just read blankly. I was given four scenes, and I thought I was meant to choose one, because that's how it is in Mexico. I was learning as I was going, getting used to a complete different industry and trying my best. But the casting director stopped everything. She said, "You're probably going to work just because you're pretty." I was like, "What does that even mean?" I was so upset, and I made a mental note that I never wanted to hear that again. I was like, "I'm going to show you." I work EVERY SINGLE DAY to not fall into stereotypes. Motivated me to work ten times harder.

A pesar de la denigrante situación de la que fue víctima la actriz, considera que ésto le valió el impulso a su carrera para seguir adelante y se prometió hacer mejor las cosas.

“Estaba tan molesta que hice una nota mental: ‘nunca quiero oír eso otra vez’. Yo pensaba: ‘lo voy a demostrar trabajando cada día para no caer en los estereotipos’. Me motivó a trabajar diez veces más.”.

Advocating for Women. " I wrote an essay that I would love to publish one day about what it is to be a Latina woman in this day and age in the world. It's hard. It's really hard to have to fight constantly to have your voice heard in a man's world. It's hard to be pinned constantly as a stereotype. People are always comparing women and bringing them down– that I'm completely against. We have the obligation as women to NOT pit ourselves against each other because sadly, men will do it for us." #EizaOnLatina @latina
